These lamps from designers Emi Fujita and Shane Kohatsu are shaped like sunflowers, sort of, and collect solar power so they can light up your garden at night. The best part about these outdoor lights is that they don't have to be outdoors. You can attach these to the wall, as shown above, and they'll still do a good job collecting solar energy in order to be used at night.
100% Sun-powered Airplane
The Solar Impulse is Bertrand Piccard's 100% solar-powered airplane. He plans to go around the world with it in 2011, but the pilots have started training today using an extremely complex virtual simulator that takes into account all its features. It has a 262-feet wingspan full of photovoltaic cells that power its 40kW engines. The Solar Impulse can move its 4,409-pounds carbon-fiber body at an altitude of 39,370-feet, while maintaining a 43.9mph average speed. Full specs and a picture of the team after the jump.
VIP Edition 787 Dreamliner
In recent news Hong Kong real estate tycoon Joseph Lau has just ordered a Dreamliner VIP. It's the same airplane you and I are going to use, but instead of being crammed in seat 36D between Biff, the overweight shoe salesman, and Chantal, the aerobic teacher from Fort Lauderdale, he'll have a 2,404 square-feet luxurious cabin all for himself. As a bonus, check the just-unveiled new interior designs for the 747-8 VIP, complete with SkyLoft, "vaulted ceilings, spiral staircases and video wall displays" after the jump.
Epson P-3000 Photo Fine Player
Epson has come up with their P-3000, a 40GB HDD which plays H.264 videos on its 4-inch screen. It's Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Mac compatible and you'll get three hours' battery life for movies, and six for music playback. Its price tag is $499.
