The deadline for voter registration with photograph in the port city has been extended again up to March 20.

The people who have failed to enlist their names as voters can register at the server room set up at MA Aziz Stadium during the period, district election officials said yesterday.

Sources said voter registration started in the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) area on December 5 in 2007 and that a total of 15,62,111 people registered as voters as of March 17.

Yesterday was the last day of an extended period for registration, but still a huge number of people could not be enrolled as voters. So, the authorities extended the time up to March 20.

District Election Officer Md Dulal Talukder said they have to close the voter registration soon in order to publish draft voter list in time.
