Women Dev Policy

Govt urged not to receive review body suggestions

Bangladesh Sanjukta Works' Women Commission (BSWWC) yesterday urged the government to implement the National Women Development Policy (NWDP) and not to receive the suggestions of the review committee.

In a statement, the president and the general secretary of the organisation said more than half of the total population of Bangladesh are women and are contributing to the country's economy alongside men.

The NWDP is an up-to-date one, which would guide the country to achieve the millennium development goals, implement the Cedwa, the statement read.

They also condemned the remarks of some fundamentalist groups against the women development policy.
