The tenth Standard Chartered school chess tournament will begin from July 8 at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hallroom.

Organised by the federation, boys and girls from Kindergarten to Class X can take part without any entry fees. The event will be held in groups for KG to Class V, Class VI to X and a different group for girls.

Interested students are asked to register at the federation office with certificates from their educational institutions from 4pm to 8pm everyday till July 2.

DIV I KABADDI
Dhaka Wanderers crushed Srijoni Sangsad 85-43 with five creditable lonas in the First Division Kabaddi League at the Kabaddi Stadium yesterday.

In the day's other two matches, Ali Sporting Club defeated Dhalpur Krira Chakra 54-25 including three lonas while Manik Nagar Unnayan Samity beat Diamond Sporting Club 60-40 also with three lonas.

DINAJPUR VOLLEYBALL
Dinajpur won the first-ever Sena Moitree Volleyball title defeating Bangladesh Army of Rangpur at the Dinajpur Gar-e-Shahid Maidan.

Dinajpur District Sports Association (DDSA) defeated Army in 3-1 sets.

Ten districts including Dinajpur, Rangpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Joypurhat, Lalmonirhat, Kurgram and Nilphamari participated in this tournament.

Maj Gen Sayeed Fatemi Ahmed Rumi handed over the trophies as chief guest. Deputy Commissioner of Dinajpur Md Nabiul Haque Mollah attended as special guest.

MANIKGANJ CRICKET
Bandutiya Natya Goshthi (BNG) defeated Bablu Babu Smriti Cricket Clinic by 21 runs in the Sunlife Insurance Second Division League at Shaheed Miraz-Tapan Stadium.

Batting first, BNG scored 104-7 in 20 overs with Biplob making 43 runs while Pavel hit 23. In reply, Bablu Babu only managed 83 for eight in their allotted overs with Pavel taking five wickets.

In the other match of the day, Gilondo United beat Purba Dashara Cricket Eleven by eight wickets.
