Trader stabbed, robbed of Tk 15 lakh

A gang of muggers snatched Tk 15 lakh, including dollars worth Tk five lakh, from the owner of a money exchange after stabbing him in the city's Fakirer Pool area last night.

The victim, Golam Zilani Mantu, 48, owner of Saikat Money Exchange at DIT Extension Road, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at around 9:00pm. Later, he was shifted to Orthopaedics Hospital at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

Hospital sources said he was stabbed in his hands.

Mantu said three muggers riding a motorcycle attacked him when he was going to his Naya Paltan residence after closing his business organisation at around 8:30pm.
