2 murdered in city

Two people, including an accused in a murder case, were killed in separate incidents in the city yesterday.

A gang of criminals hacked an accused of a murder case to death at Lalbagh in the city last night.

The victim identified as Saiful Islam, 22, died on the spot when four to five criminals stabbed him on Water Works Road at around 7:30pm.

Police sent the body to Sir Salimullah Medical College morgue for autopsy.

Police said Saiful, a resident of Islambagh area, is an accused in the Ramjan Murder case.

The miscreants slaughtered Ramjan on Water Works Road last month.

Police could not arrest anyone as of filing of the report at 11:30pm.

Meanwhile, criminals shot dead a trader at Kachukhet in the city yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Abul Khayer, 35.

Police said on information they rushed to Kachukhet at 7:15pm and found bullet-hit Khayer lying on the street.

They took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Khayer was hit by two bullets in the head and abdomen.

However, local people said they did not hear any gunshot.

Police said the criminals might have dumped the body at Kachukhet after shooting him dead somewhere else.
