Tribute paid to Shamsuddin, Prafulla

Speakers at a memorial meeting yesterday paid tribute to language movement veteran ATM Shamsuddin and artist Prafulla Roy, saying that both of them worked behind the scene to build a secular and democratic country and promote the spirit of the Liberation War.

They were unsung heroes in the country's history, the speakers said.

The cultural unit of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) organised the meeting at its office in the city.

CPB President Manjurul Ahsan Khan, Gono Fourm Presidium member Pankaj Bahttacharya, NAP presidium member Amena Ahmed, Communist Kendra leader Ajoy Roy, CPB leader Morshed Ali and journalist Mozammel Hossain Manju spoke at the meeting chaired by Prof Matlub Ali.

The speakers said ATM Shamsuddin and Prafulla Roy made significant contribution to the movement against imperialism and fanaticism. They are the architects of the country's history.
