Naib Uddin Ahmed passes away

Celebrated photographer Naib Uddin Ahmed, elder brother of eminent photographer late Dr Noazesh Ahmed, passed away at Comfort Hospital in the city on Monday at the age of 84.

He had been suffering from various complications for long.

He is considered a pioneering Bangladeshi photographer. He was born at Paril village under Manikganj district.

Ahmed made his breakthrough in the 50s and 60s with his lively and impressive photographs that highlighted the diverse beauty of Bangladesh and the nature.

The 50s and 60s were tumultuous times for the nation when Naib Uddin and his camera witnessed all the movements of Bangladesh.

However, he left photography in 1971 as the brutality meted out by the Pakistani army affected him profoundly.

Naib Uddin was laid to rest at his family graveyard at Paril in Manikganj after a namaz-e-janaza at Paril schoolground.
