Police yesterday arrested an absconding accused in a case filed with Satkhira Sadar Police Station on August 22 for distributing anti-government leaflets.
The accused is Rabiul Islam Khan, vice-principal of Satkhira Law College. Rabiul, Satkhira Law College teacher advocate Sheikh Alamgir Hossain and Satkhira Chitra Press owner Yunus Ali have been made accused in the case.
Police arrested Rabiul at Faridpur intersection in Faridpur town while he was going to Dhaka in a bus.
Rabiul and Alamgir were distributing anti-government leaflets in puccapool area of Satkhira town on the night of August 21. In the leaflets, they also urged the people to join 'jihad' against those who reject Islamic rule in the country.
Being informed, police rushed to spot and arrested Alamgir, while Rabiul managed to flee. Police arrested Chitra Press owner Yunus for printing the leaflets at his press.

In the case statement, the complainant stated that local people challenged Rabiul Islam Khan and Advocate Sheikh Alamgir. Hossain while they were distributing leaflets at Puccapole intersection in the town at about 10:10pm on August 21. Locals chased the two and caught Sheikh Alamgir. Hossain at Khan Market while Rabiul Islam managed to escape.
On Information, police rushed to Khan Market and arrested Alamgir with 200 leaflets of Islamic Samannoy Committee, the complainant said.
