Freedom fighters allege quota 'violation'

The freedom fighters here yesterday alleged that the Rajshahi University authorities have ignored the freedom fighter quota in the recent recruitment of 103 fourth-class employees.

They said the 30 percent quota system was not followed, as only nine of the total recruits were sons and daughters of freedom fighters instead of 31 as per the rule.

They also alleged that the rule was ignored at Rajshahi Sugar Mills Ltd as well.

Rajshahi district unit Muktijoddha Shangsad Command raised the allegations in a memorandum to the president and chancellor of RU through the deputy commissioner of the district.

Recognising it, RU Pro-VC Prof Muhammad Nurullah said the rule could not be followed, as a number of temporary employees were regularised through the recruitment.
