This is an important follow up. Thanks to The Daily Star. I hope that the government will pay attention to the list seriously.

This list represents the opinion of common citizens of Bangladesh in a greater extend.

: Mohammad Rahman

There are no alternative choices other than doing it right at the first place all the time. That is the only way to progress forward and our politicians and civil administrations at all level must not hinder away from it.

How Daily Star forgot: strengthening the local government and decentralization of the administration is the key to total development?

Your wish list is incomplete, please add -

    20. Drop incompetent ministers.

    21. Replace Foreign and Home ministers.

    22. Induct experienced leaders like Tofael Ahmed, Amu, and Saber in the cabinet.

    23. Make sure ministers talk less and work more.

This is indeed a funny list...Really? Do you really belive that any GOVT of Bangladesh would do anything productive or anything that may lead to something good for the general public.

Minus 2 formula doesn't look so bad now...

Making the government accountable is the greatest thing media can do. Hats-off to Daily Star for taking the lead in a candid, non-partition way.

Let's start IMMEDIATELY with #13 in your list: Curb unruly activities of ruling party operatives

I guess this list will remain always a Wish List. I do not see anyway this unpatriotic government can address these issues.

It's very unfortunate that the Daily Star did not add the trial of war criminals to their wish list. Also they forgot to wish anything against the corrupt politicians who established reign of terror, laundered money and committed crime against humanity.

About the last wish: Even they (Middle-Eastern Countries) want your wife/daughter work at their house and get raped? Even they want to drop cases against war criminals? Try to stand up yourself with dignity. Make a wish to give importance to further increase incentives to new industries, factories, business organisations where our people can find jobs and work with dignity.

Does DS has no wish list regarding the country's foreign policy. Since it does not have any wish list regarding Our relationship with our neighbours, I believe this newspaper sanctions the look only at India policy and forget the rest.

Thanks to Daily Star for the wishes , we know country like ours we have thousand of wishes need to be fulfilled but again whatever the wishes the DS raised good enough as a point of initiation and plan for next year wish, we couldn't even express our wish for last 40 years publicly but now we can, however the govt. has thousand jobs to do in order to drive this country into a respectable position, We always had a wish but couldn't express, now we can, may be after 40 years we will see this wishes became reality. We know how bad our politicians are. So lets keep wishing that's what we can do.

You cannot really fulfill The Daily Star's wish to improve ties with Middle Eastern Countries without abandoning AL, Election PLEDGE- TRIAL OF WAR CRIMINALS! A question of whether our sovereignty and dignity is more important than begging the Arabs for 100,000 more jobs! Most of the wishes you have are credible and should be addressed but probably were not part of the election manifesto of 2008.

We thank The Daily Star for the good work that they have done through out the year and also for this wish list. As concerned readers of STAR we have one wish. Try to be even more fair and don't tow AL line as you seem to be doing often.

We would like to add three more urgent tasks to this list. Stop extra-judicial killing. Stop withdrawal of criminal cases under political considerations. Ensure public hearing by the appropriate parliamentary body as a part of vetting process in the appointments to the constitutional posts including Judges of the Supreme Court.

And starting land reform, without which vision 2021 is impossible. Health policy is very precarious and not included in your list following S Korea is a model example for development quickly. Opposition BNP also should have social commitment in economic development giving hundred percent loan from bank to migrant skilled persons is very urgent. Coal policy is mandatory with the help of opposition leaders. Furthermore, who is the govt? It is us, and should be done by ourselves. So, demonising AL only will be unfair.

Thanks The Daily Star for publishing such a wish list to the AL government. A brilliant initiative. Without media democracy is like without guardian. However, in a democratic political system the party in power cannot do anything properly without the cooperation & constructive criticism from the oppositions. Consequently, I would advise The Daily Star to publish another wish list for the oppositions.
