It's all lies

Khaleda bins graft allegations against Tarique; says her son leads a very honest life

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday said her elder son Tarique Rahman leads “a very honest life” and is not involved in any corruption and has no wealth.

“All allegations of corruption against him [Tarique] are nothing but lies and propaganda by vested quarters,” Khaleda, also leader of the opposition, said while speaking at a meeting and award giving ceremony at city's Institute of Engineers.

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, student body associated with BNP, organised the programme marking the 48th birth anniversary of Tarique Rahman, also senior vice-chairman of the main opposition.

The BNP and its various associate and like-minded bodies organised a series of programmes including cutting cakes, fireworks, blood donation camps, photo exhibition, painting competition and cultural programmes on the occasion in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.

Speaking at the Institute of Engineers, the BNP chief said her ailing son was being treated in the UK and would return in the right time after his complete recovery.

“He is well a bit but not completely. Our main target is that he returns home after making a complete recovery.”

She added in a firm voice: “He must return to the country in the right time and will work for the welfare and prosperity of the country and people.”

Pointing to different cases filed against Tarique including the one for money laundering, Khaleda said: His ideas and ways of thoughts regarding serving BNP and the country are totally different.

“The overall situation of the country and BNP would have benefitted from his ideas and thoughts if those were materialised. But his enemy realised it and that's why they did not let him move forward.”

Khaleda added: “That's why various vested quarters including Moeen U Ahmed and Fakhruddin Ahmed [former army chief and past caretaker government chief adviser respectively] hatched conspiracy and launched propaganda against him to destroy him.”

“They [Moeen and Fakhruddin] tortured him so severely [during the past caretaker rule] that he had to go abroad for treatment.”

On the Awami League's theme of “Digital Bangladesh”, the BNP chief claimed it was her son Tarique who thought and started working to that end long before the AL.

Tarique Zia is not an honest person as Khaleda Zia claims. She should remember that she will not get supports from the people of Bangladesh if she does not keep her two corrupt sons out of politics and power.

We all are reasonably aware of what went around Hawa Bhaban and how this place became so powerful. Virtually every affairs of the state was dictated from there. Only yesterday Khaleda Zia asked the nation to give her one more chance; I think this news will make it difficult further.

The statements made by Khaleda about her son Tarique Rahman are all lies.

Tarique Rahman is a bona fide dishonest person and is a disgrace to his late father President Ziaur Rahman.

Give me a break! Does she think that all the people are stupid? It seems by talks like this, the Madam is planning to rule the country the same way as before.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia should be rejected by the people for lying in favor of his most corrupt son Tarique.

When is the opportune time for Tarek to come back home? If he was falsely implicated he should have handled it in court and cast away the public gloomy perception on Tarek.

Your son is leading a luxurious life in UK. However, he is not working there. Is it the sign of honest life leading?

The word honest is written differently for Khaleda Zia's dictionary. If she really means that her son is honest and want us to believe it , it's real insulting for honest people, there are honest people but not as honest as her son. Tks.

BNP recently seek for one more chance, whether there was any for them. But it would have been better to accept the wrong doings and learn from the mistake and move on with a new leadership. But after these comment people and lots of BNP supporter will be disappointed. Clearly she failed to lead and coming out of family dynasty. Please consider to accept a new leader within party who has much more acceptability .Tariq had the chance and he failed badly. So please move on.

BNP Chairperson denies any corruption charges against her son (Tarique Rahman), said it’s a total lie; her son leads a very honest life. The Daily Star’s latest online poll however contradicts that. It shows that 81% of the voters didn’t agree with her.

Public are raising eye brows as to inordinate delay in settling the cases against Khaleda and Tareque. Is there any sort of unwritten understanding between the two major parties regarding the trial of political bigwigs?

So your son leads a very honest life - Ok- please publish for the public all sources of his income and expenditure over the last ten years, all bank accounts he holds at home and abroad and all accounts where he is the beneficiary. Please explain how he pays for his UK medical and living expenses in the over this long period. Only honest answers will do.
