Poison Plot

Arafat body to be exhumed Tuesday

The body of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat will be exhumed on Tuesday to undergo poison tests, the head of the Palestinian inquiry team said yesterday.

"The tomb will be opened on November 27 and experts will take samples the same day within a matter of a few hours," Tawfiq Tirawi told reporters in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

He said a reburial ceremony would be held later the same day.

Arafat's family members had earlier said that the exhumation would probably go ahead on Monday.

Tirawi did not explain the apparent delay while stressing the exhumation was painful but necessary to establish the truth of allegations that Israeli may have poisoned the iconic Palestinian leader.

Exhuming Arafat's body is not going to achieve much other than diverting attention. Even if you are able to prove it that they poisoned him, Israel will outright reject the claim. In fact should not make the issue so important other than opening the grave and afterward with little prayers just close it down? Nothing big deal doing so and family should not make much issue out of it too. Wealth by the deceases has left the Arafat family rich in Geneva and Paris; so why complain anyway. It was interesting to see the news surfacing just prior to 8 day Gaza massacre and the news returned again after ceasefire. In the mean time the assignment by the Israel went 100% successful and as per well plan.
