Khulna Royal Bengals skipper Shahriar Nafees took a break from the hectic schedule of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 and visited the demonstrations at the Shahbagh intersection, nicknamed 'Projonmo Chottor' at 8 pm yesterday. The area has been filled with thousands of people demanding capital punishment for Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah and other war criminals over the last six days.
The player, who was there till 9:15 pm, said that he was awestruck by the scenes at Shahbagh. “What I saw there was unbelievable. I was moved to see so many people participating… it's the kind of movement which we all should go to,” Nafees told reporters.
Many more cricketers are expected to visit the intersection in the coming days. The cricketers are supposed to meet this morning, and depending upon the meeting a group led by national skipper Mushfiqur Rahim may visit Shahbagh.
