Robbery in city house

Robbers looted gold ornaments and other valuables worth about Tk 15 lakh from the house of a banker at Mirpur in the city yesterday morning.

Police said a gang of five to seven robbers stormed into the flat of Abdul Awal, a senior principal officer of Rupali Bank Principal Office, on the third floor of a six-storey building at Maddhya Manipur under Mirpur Police Station at about 7:15 am.

They held inmates of the house hostage at gunpoint and looted 40 tolas of gold ornaments, Tk 15,000 in cash, one laptop, three digital cameras and other valuables.
