Agassi aced out of Wimbledon

Andre Agassi's bid for a second Wimbledon title was shattered yesterday when the American second seed crashed to a five-set defeat at the hands of Mark Philippoussis.

The powerful Australian won 6-3, 2-6, 6-7 (4/7), 6-3, 6-4 to advance to a quarter-final meeting with another unseeded player, Germany's Alexander Popp.

A closely-fought battle that lasted 3 hours 12 minutes turned over the course of two games in the middle of the fifth and final set.
