Tk 2 lakh prize bonds recovered from a village in Dumuria

Prize bonds worth Tk two lakh which were stolen from a Pubali Bank corporate branch in Dhaka were recovered from a house at Magura Ghona village under Dumuria upazila Saturday night.The prize bonds along with Tk 23 lakh and gold ornaments were stolen from the Bangabandhu Avenue branch of the bank on June 17. A police team from Motijheel thana in Dhaka assisted by Dumuria police made the recovery from the house of one Liaquat and arrested Matiar Rahman, son-in-law of the elder brother of Abu Daud, prime accused in the burglary case. With this the number of arrested persons stood at 10. All the arrested persons are relatives of Abu Daud, security guard of the bank. Acting on a secret information, two sub-inspectors of Motijheel thana came to Khulna and recovered Tk 12 lakh and gold ornaments from a house at Gilatala under Khanjahan Ali thana Tuesday night. On Friday, police arrested Abu Daud from Alipur border in Satkhira and recovered Tk 35,000 from him. His wife is yet to be nabbed. Abu Daud was arrested when he, his wife and son were preparing to cross the border to go to India. From there he was taken to Dumuria thana for questioning along with four others arrested earlier from different villages in Dumuria. All the arrested persons including Abu Daud were taken to Dhaka on Sunday.
