5000 flood victims move to Baghaichhori camps

About 5000 flood-hit people have moved to five relief centres at Baghaichhori, opened by the upazila administration, as Katchalong river overflew both its banks inundating five villages following ten days' rains.

The people at the centres are being given wheat as relief, official sources said.

The Baghaichhori Upazila Nirbahee Officer has sent an urgent message to the district administration seeking more food grains, the sources said.

The district administration earlier allocated TK 30,000 and eight tonnes of rice for the flood-hit people, Additional Deputy Comm-issioner Karim Gazi said.

"The flood-affected people were shifted to schools and madrasahs and the upazila administration has started distributing relief among them", he said.
