Govt cancels diplomats' visit to Bogra last minute

In a move that puzzled some diplomats, the government invited a select number of diplomatic missions to visit Bogra to see for themselves the ammunition cache seized in the last few days.The visit was to take place yesterday, but it was cancelled at the last moment. The embassies and high commissions invited include the US, UK, EU, Italy, Pakistan and India. It was learnt from a reliable source that the invitation surprised the diplomats who did not understand the purpose of such a visit. Moreover, they felt that it would embroil them in the country's internal controversy because of charges and counter-charges being levelled against each other by the two main political parties -- the BNP and the AL.
