A case was filed yesterday against former president H M Ershad and Advisory Editor of the Daily Janakantha Toab Khan. The Bureau of Anti-corruption (BAC) filed the case with the Motijheel Police Station in connection with the allocation of a plot to Toab Khan in 1988. Meanwhile, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court, Dhaka yesterday issued arrest warrant against Janakantha Editor Atiqullah Khan Masud, the daily's Executive Editor Borhan Ahmed, and Chittagong Bureau Chief Moazzemul Haq. Magistrate Emdadul Haq issued the warrant order in the afternoon after State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mir Mohammad Nasiruddin filed a case following a news published in the daily on June 27 under the headline "Chhatra Dal leader Iqballiya arrested with prostitute and firearm'. The state minister in the case said such headline tarnished his image. BAC in its case stated that the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (Rajuk) had allotted Toab Khan nearly seven katha plot at Road-113 in Gulshan Residential Area in 1988. The then president Ershad had recommended his application for it. BAC sources said Toab Khan had applied for a plot in Gulshan, Banani or Baridhara in 1988, stating that neither he nor his wife owned any Rajuk plot. As per rules, one having a Rajuk plot cannot apply for another. Toab Khan had applied for a plot in 1967 and was allotted one at Road-4 in Uttara in 1982, sources said.
