Club comes first for Kadhafi

Perugia's new signing Saadi Kadhafi has ruled himself out of Libya's African Cup qualifier against Swaziland in Tripoli this weekend, his spokesman Gianluca Di Carlo said Thursday. Di Carlo said that Saadi, son of Libyan leader Mouammar, has decided to stay at Perugia's summer training camp as they prepare for their forthcoming InterToto Cup match. Kadhafi junior, who signed a one-year contract with Perugia last week, was due to leave for Libya on Thursday and return on Sunday after that match. Saadi, who has played for Libyan club Al-Ittihad and is vice-president of his national federation, trained with Perugia Thursday after overcoming an ankle injury. The 30-year-old midfielder owns a small stake in Serie A champions Juventus and was linked with a move to buy cash-strapped Rome giants Lazio earlier this year.
