Hit-and-run driver still at large

Police failed to arrest even after 60 hours the car driver who knocked down a doctor from his motorbike and dragged him to death.

The Mohammadpur Police Station said Investigation Officer of the case, Noor-e-Alam, raided several places but failed to nab him.

Police, however, did not confirm whether they got whereabouts of the driver or the owner of the car.

Sources said police did not seem serious about arresting the driver who brutally killed the doctor despite appeals from people on the road.

Physicians and employees of the Pongu Hospital brought out a procession from the hospital to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) yesterday and held a rally at the BSMMU bot tola and moved on with another procession to the Bangladesh Medical Association.

Dr. Mohammad Shajahan Ali, a medical officer at the Pongu hospital was hit by a car Tuesday in front of Sobhanbagh Mosque at 11:00am. The car dragged him for more than a kilometer as his leg got tangled in its bumper.
