Ammo haul in Bogra
Ziauddin Ahmed, Gulshan, Dhaka
The biggest ever haul of bullets and explosives in Bogra is a matter of great concern for the ordinary citizens of this country. If the villagers of Kahalu Upazilla did not inform the police about the truck with its deadly cargo, the consignment would have gone to its final destination, wherever it meant for. This is an eye opener on how corruption and negligence of duty have created big holes at our seaports, land ports, and airports. How porous are our borders! The hauled ammo has not fallen from the sky. It must have entered via a sea or land route. Press report says the bullets and explosives are of Chinese origin. This brings many questions in mind. Where was this deadly cargo destined for? Were these ammos meant for the extremists both inside and outside our national borders? Who know how many such cargo had earlier slipped in and out of our borders. Mud slinging by the political parties and counter accusations are diverting our minds from actual facts which we will probably never know. Our civil society is also mum and not raising any hue and cry over this dangerous find. The real culprits must have slipped out by now. I am certain the inquiry and investigation report of this ammo find would also go into cold storage like the blasts in Jessore, Narayanganj, Ramna botmul, and Mymensingh.
