Concert
Singing 'No to drugs'

June 26 was the 'International day for Drug Awareness and Illicit Trafficking'. To commemorate this day and to create awareness of drugs, ALO, a social organisation organised a charity concert on June 27 at the Scholastica STM auditorium.

ALO is a non profitable organisation registered with the Department of Social Welfare and its main focus is to spread the message of drug awareness among the various groups of the society including the grass root levels. The members of ALO are all volunteers and the organisation includes physicians, educationists and other prominent members of the society.

This year three bands performed at the concert, Ajob, Dol Chut and Bangla.

The show titled 'Light with Hope' started off with the welcoming speech from ALO organisers. The first band to perform was 'Ajob', a new band on the block. 'Dasher Pane Ekbar Chao Re..' was the first number. Pure Bengali folk with fused alternative music was their type. Next was the famous number 'Ke Jas Re'. This number was followed by 'Tasher Moto Ghor' and 'Dil Doriyar Maze Re Tui'.

Dol Chut took the stage next. They started with 'Brishti Pore Jole Bhije'. Next they performed 'Ami Fire Jete Chai' and 'Tumi Amar'.

An amazing 'fire show' stunned the audience after 'Dol Chut's' performance. ALO wanted to show the audience that there are natural ways to get high, not with the help of drugs.

The long awaiting band 'Bangla' came on stage finally. The audience greeted them. Anushe, Bangla's vocal shared her dark experience with the audience. Then she started with 'Shohoj Manush'. One after another they enthralled the crowd with songs like 'Shona diya..', 'Shabash Manush', 'Nokol Chini' and new numbers like 'Pagol Chara Duniya Chole Na', 'Jodi Allahr Shakkhat Chao' and 'Pakhita Bondho Ache Deher Khachay'. The crowd enjoyed their performance.

Overall it was a highly enjoyable evening, with great music and a tremendous amount of fun, and it surely created some awareness among the people who were present there.
