Khelaghar observes birth anniversaries of three legends

Children's organisation Kendrio Khelaghar Ashor organised a discussion programme and a cultural show to mark the birth anniversaries of Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and Shukanto Bhatacharya at the Biswa Shahitya Kendra Auditorium.

Chief guest of the opening ceremony, former Director General of National Museum, Shamsuz-zaman Khan said in his speech, 'The practice of the works of literary personalities like Tagore, Nazrul and Shukanto in our country is a positive side of our culture.'

Special guest, the granddaughter of Kazi Nazrul Islam, Khilkhil Kazi read out some of the humorous stories of the young Nazrul's life. She also said, 'We are losing our cultural heritage these days. Our children know very little about our literature and culture. This is our fault. We must teach our children, give our children the proper education to learn our true culture. We must convey it to the new generation.'

Among others DU teacher Dr. Shoumitra Shekhar, Mahbuba Nahid, Amol Nath, Pronoy Saha, Jibon Choudhury of Khelaghar and Nazrul singer Salauddin Ahmed spoke at the occasion.

Later a cultural programme followed in which child performers of Khelaghar took part. The little children sang Alokeri jharnadharay dhuye dao apnake and three little girls dressed in colourful dress danced. Later Biman Chandra Biswas, Khilkhil Kazi and Salauddin Ahmed sang Nazrul songs.
