Different political organisations have condemned and protested the incident of attack on Awami League leader and former minister Tofail Ahmed at Lalmohan, Bhola, allegedly by BNP activists last Wednesday. They demanded immediate probe into the incident of attack on Tofail while he was on a visit to his constituency by a microbus to attend a milad for the victims of the recent launch capsize. Such an attack on him is unprecedented in the political history of Bangladesh since it was a religious programme, they noted. Those who issued statements yesterday condemning the attack on Tofail include Deputy Leader of the Opposition in parliament, Advocate Abdul Hamid, Acting President and Acting General Secretary of Awami League Abdus Samad Azad and Obaidul Kader, President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) Monjurul Ahsan Khan and Mujahidul Islam Selim and leaders of Awami Seschhasebak League.
