Another defamatory suit was filed against the Editor of The Daily Star, Mahfuz Anam, and the Editor of the Protham Alo, Motiur Rahman for publishing news on Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, the parliamentary affairs advisor to the prime minister.

Syed Emranur Reza, the general secretary of BNP, Brahmanbaria district unit, filed the case before the First Class Magistrate's Court, Brahmanbaria yesterday.

The case was filed under sections 500/501/502/109 of the Bangladesh Penal Code. In his complaint, Emranur Reza said the above two newspapers published defamatory news on SQ Chowdhury with ill motivation.

The news contained false and fabricated information regarding SQ Chowdhury which hurt the complainant and others, he claimed.

The Magistrate, Chandan Kumar Dey, ordered for a judicial inquiry into the case. The magistrate also fixed August 10 for next hearing of the case.

Earlier, two identical cases were filed in Jessore (June 16) and Joypurhat (July 15) following SQ Chowdhury's June 11 suit against the editors.
