Bima hold Usha

Usha Krira Chakra dropped another valuable point when they were held 2-2 against promotees Sadharan Bima in the Green Delta Premier Division Hockey League at the Maulana Bhasani National Stadium yesterday.

But Usha should consider themselves lucky for not actually losing the game against such weak opposition.

It was second successive match that Usha have drawn.

Beaten by Mariner Young's Club for third place last season, they started this year's campaign with a 2-0 win against Ajax Sporting Club.

On the other hand, the insurance side bagged a point after losing two previous matches.

The dull first half ended goalless though both teams got chances to take the lead.

Bima bewildered their superior opponents after the break when Indian Gregory Minz scored a field goal in the opening seconds of the second session.

Usha launched a series of raids but finally broke through the packed Bima defence in the 54th minute when Mobinur Rahman converted a penalty-corner to level the score.

Al Masum, however, took just four minutes to put Usha back in front before Gregory scored his second field goal with only a minute left on the clock.

AZAD-WANDERERS Meanwhile, Azad Sporting Club became unbeaten champions in the First Division after managing a one-all draw against Dhaka Wanderers Club in their last 'Super League' match.

Azad earlier confirmed their berth in next year's Premier League.

Russel netted a field goal to put Azad ahead in the 26th minute while Navid Safi equalised for Wanderers in the 38th minute.
