National Football League
Wonderful Wanderers

Impressive Moul-vibazar Wanderers Club romped into the Super-Six stage of the Nitol-Tata National Football League in grand style as they thrashed Arambagh Krira Sangha 4-1 in the last match of the penultimate leg at the Barisal Stadium yesterday.

Wanderers finished their campaign on an unbeaten note to secure the top slot in Group A with ten points from four games. Holders Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club (seven points) can catch them however, if they win their last encounter against Jhenaidah Mohammedan at Khulna.

Arambagh (one point) have a remote chance of reaching the Super Six as the third team from the group, but they have to win against the hapless Jamalpur Jagarani in their last match and hope that Jhenaidah Mohammedan(four points) are thrashed by a big margin.

Moulvibazar Wanderers, who have been the revelation of the NFL, had the match in their pocket by halftime as they took a 4-0 lead.

Midfielder Gobinda Chandra Sarker opened the scoring in only the second minute when his free-kick found the net.

Before the Dhaka Premier League team could reorganise, Wanderers shot into a 2-0 lead when Jony capitalised from a rebounder in the 12th minute.

Jalal scored the third in the 32nd minute and Milon completed the rout just before the breather.

Arambagh got a consolation goal ten minutes from time when Kamrul converted a penalty after Gobinda had brought down Saiful inside the danger zone.

Gobinda was later adjudged man of the match.
