268 children oppressed in July

Two hundred and sixty eight children were oppressed and 123 women and children were raped in July, according to a report published by Odhikar, a human rights organisation.The monthly report was prepared on the basis of information published in the leading dailies and investigation conducted by Odhikar itself. Besides, 10 journalists were sued and five injured in the last month, the report said. The report also said that 34 persons including 16 males received acid injuries. In different political incidents, 36 persons were killed and 391 others injured while 173 were arrested, the report mentioned. In another report, Democracy watch, a non-governmental organisation, said 344 persons were killed and 32 persons including 16 women received acid injuries till July 29. This report was also prepared on the basis of the news published in different national dailies. Twelve women were killed for dowry and 59 children were raped, the report said.
