Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court also fined the convict, Ramananda Rudrapal, 30, a labourer of Shilghat Tea Garden in Baralekha upazila, Tk 5,000, in default, he is to suffer one more year in jail.

According to the prosecution, Rudrapal hit his sister Jalpona Rudrapal, 20, with a wooden stick on April 30, 1998. She died on the spot.

After examining records and witnesses, Judge A K M Mostafa Dewan handed down the verdict.
