Cotton farming on 9,000 hectares in Meherpur

A total 9000 hectares have been brought under cotton cultivation in the district this year with a production target of 11000 tonnes of seed cotton. Of the total, 3500 hectares are in Meherpur Sadar, 3000 in Gangni and 2500 hectates in Mujibnagar upazila. According to official sources, Cotton Development Board is distributing 27 tonnes of seeds, insecticides and fertiliser among farmers at fair prices and giving them training to make the programme a success.
