Road mishaps kill five in Mymensingh, Rangamati

Five people were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in Mymensingh and Rangamati districts yesterday.Three were killed in Mymensingh and the rest in Rangamati. Our Mymensingh correspondent reports: Three people including a child were killed and five others injured in two separate road accidents in the district. The first accident occurred on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway at Bhoradoba in Bhaluka upazila at about 5pm when a Dhaka bound microbus from Mymensingh hit a truck from behind, killing the driver of the microbus, Tipu Sultan, 25, on the spot and injuring others. The injured were admitted to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where an unidentified woman succumbed to her injuries at noon. Police seized both the vehicles. Another accident occurred on station road in the town at about 1:15pm in which a six-year-old boy, Halim, son of Tayeb Ali of village Kutubbari in Muktagachha upazila, was crushed under the wheels of a Maxi. Police seized the vehicle and arrested its helper, Alauddin, but the driver managed to flee. The bodies were sent to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy. In Rangamati, two madrassah students were killed on the spot when a truck hit them in front of Pourasava Bhaban in the town early yesterday, according to BSS. The victims, Hossain Ali, 10, son of Arshad Ali, of Garjanlali and Korban Ali, 9, son of Ahmed Fatha, of Kataltali, were going to their madrassah at 5:30am. Police seized the truck and a case was lodged with Kotwali Police Station.
