To mark the 12th anniversary of Sargaam Lalitkala Academy, the institution honoured four eminent musicians in recognition to their contribution in the feild of music of our country. The awardees are Khandakar Nurul Alam( music director), Ajit Roy( singer- director) and Bashir Ahmed (singer), and Md. Rafiquzzaman (lyricist). The programme was arranged at the Russian Cultural Centre recently where eminent Tagore singer Kalim Sharafi handed over the awards. Bashir Ahmed said, 'Quality singers are those who work hard and have perseverance. For this, songs of yesteryears are still loved by people. It is important to love music.' Ajit Roy said, 'I feel proud and obliged to get this award. Praise and prize makes me feel honoured..' Among others Poet Nasir Ahmed, Shamudra Gupta and Kishowar Khandakar, singer Shubir Nandi, and Ferdous Aleem, Shahin Shardar, Mazharul Karim and Dr. Jasimuddin of Sargaam Lalitkala Academy also spoke at the occasion. After the award giving ceremony a cultural programme titled 'Shedin ar koto durey' was performed by the students of Sargaam Lalitkala Academy. They sang patriotic songs like O amar desher mati, Eki aparup rupey ma tomar, banglar mukh ami dekhiachhi, moder garab moder asha and others. Later singer Shubir Nandi, Ajit Roy and Bashir Ahmed sang many songs at the audience's request.
