Cancel BCS test, DU students reiterate
DU Correspondent
Students of Dhaka University (DU) yesterday demanded immediate cancellation of the 24th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) preliminary test, exemplary punishment to the persons involved in the question paper leakage and resignation of the Public Service Commission (PSC) chairman.Under the banner of 'General Students', they also demanded formation of a judicial committee to investigate the matter at a press conference at the Madhu's canteen of the DU. The PSC earlier cancelled the 24th BCS preliminary test held on February 28 amid allegations of question paper leakage, they said. The PSC then claimed questions were not leaked out but later cancelled the test to meet students' demand, they said. The PSC, later, formed a committee to investigate the allegation and confirmed that the questions were leaked out, the students said adding that the PSC failed to identify the culprits behind the incident. The persons involved in the earlier question paper leakage took another chance to leak out the questions as they were not punished, the students alleged. "Who will support the expenses that the students have to bear before the exam," the students asked. They also threatened to launch a greater movement if their demands were not met immediately and announced demonstration programme on the DU campus Sunday. Earlier, the students brought out a procession and held a rally at bat tala on the DU campus yesterday. The 24th BCS preliminary test was taken Friday for the second time amid allegations of question paper leakage. Eliza Zaman Supti, a student of political science at DU, read out the written statement and a number of BCS examinees were present at the press conference.
