Allahr Dal activists grilled, give out important info

Five young men, suspected to be activists of an organisation styled 'Allahr Dal' and now being interrogated on remand by police at Sunamganj, gave some important information yesterday.

They said the village unit head of their party is called 'gram nayok', the thana unit head is 'thana nayok', the district unit chief is 'zila nayok' and the party chief is called 'taroka'.

Sources said the suspects declined to say if they had any link with any political party and claimed themselves as activists of the 'Allahr Dal'.

Their remand will end today while fresh remand will be sought. Three of them were caught from Sunamganj and two from the Sylhet city.

The arrestees are Sohel Ahmed, 25, from Dargah Mohalla of Sylhet city and now living at Hasonnagar of Sunamganj town; Sohel, 20, of Badhonpara in Sunamganj and Siddiqur Rahman Sohel, 20, of Pallabi in Dhaka, Ramzan Ali, 22, of Sardarpara under Bhangura thana of Faridpur, and Rafiqul Islam, 22, of Bhagalpur under Sujanagar thana of Pabna.

They were held as police were probing the missing of a boy from Sunamganj town recently. Police also recovered some papers, diaries, and letters from their possession, sources said.

When contacted, the deputy inspector general of police, Sylhet Range, said yesterday the arrestees might be sent to Dhaka for further interrogation by the joint interrogation cell.
