Oriental Bank launches two new schemes


The Oriental Bank Limited launched two new deposit schemes -- 'Privileged Citizen Scheme' and 'Six Years Double Growth Scheme' -- on Tuesday.

To mark 'Special Service Fortnight-2003', the bank along with two new schemes also re-launched its other deposit schemes.

The privileged citizen scheme is for citizens who are above 57 and retired from jobs.

Journalist Obaidul Haque formally launched the scheme.

He said the new schemes specially the privileged scheme will be helpful for the old citizens of Bangladesh.

"The senior citizens who have worked in government, semi-government organisations or autonomous bodies and now have retired from jobs are the target group of our scheme," said Masum Ahmed Chowdhury, chairman of the bank.

Under the six years double growth scheme, the deposits will be doubled in a period of six years. This scheme was formally launched by Barrister AK Yussuf.

Oriental Bank Managing Director CM Koyes Sami, Deputy Managing Directors Imamul Hoque and Shafiquddin and Executive Vice-president Ishtiaque Ahmed Chowdhury also attended the fortnight ceremony.

Karwan Bazar branch manager and Mirpur Road branch manager were awarded at the function for their performances, which helped increasing their branch deposits by more than Tk100 crore within only six months.

Masum Ahmed Chowdhury handed over a crest to Karwan Bazar Branch Manager Mustak Ahmed and Obaidul Haque handed over another crest to Mirpur Road Branch Manager AZM Saleh.

Future deposit saving scheme, higher education saving scheme, Hajj deposit saving scheme, marriage saving scheme, saving scheme for children and housing saving scheme were also re-launched at the function.
