The Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court, Dhaka yesterday fixed September 10 for arguments in the college student Faisal murder case.After completion of test (self-defence) of the accused in the case, Judge Hossain Shahid Ahmad issued the date. The two accused, now in the custody, pleaded not guilty and prayed for acquittal of charges brought against them. The accused, Atiqur Rahman alias Sohel and Parul, were present in the court during the self-defence. Two more accused, Ibrahim Sumon and Gopal Kumar Saha, have been absconding since the murder. Ibrahim Sumon is a cousin of Faisal. The court has already recorded statements of 22 prosecution witnesses, out of 38. ABM Faisal, 18, a meritorious student of Dhaka College, was killed by a gang of assailants at their Azimpur residence on February 3, 2000. The victim's father Anwarul Hossain filed a murder case with Lalbagh police without mentioning any name of suspects the same day. The Detective Branch (DB) of Police submitted a chargesheet against the four accused on January 15, 2001. The court framed charges against them on April 27 last year and the trial began on July 15.
