Moudud tells US ambassador

The newly appointed US Ambassador to Bangladesh Harry Keels Thomas Jr called on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Moudud Ahmed at his Secretariat office yesterday. During the meeting they discussed issues of bilateral interests. The minister apprised the ambassador of carrying out law reforms by the government and the success of Speedy Trial Act and Speedy Trial Tribunal. The law minister told the ambassador that the government would formulate rules regarding the separation of judiciary by this year and pass the Anti Corruption Commission Bill immediately. Expressing satisfaction over law reforms, the US ambassador assured the minister of his country's support and cooperation in this sector especially in jail reform and the legal assistance programme of the government.
