Embargo on committee meetings
JS body chairmen unhappy over new timing

Chairmen of different parliamentary standing committees have expressed their dissatisfaction at the government embargo on holding committee meetings before 5.00pm, sources said.

The chairmen said they are facing difficulties in holding the meetings after 5.00pm as the government officials concerned are reluctant to attend the meetings after their office hour.

Besides, committee members also get bored of attending the meetings till 8.00 to 9.00 at night, they added.

The committee chairmen have decided to inform the Speaker of the matter after discussing among themselves.

The government took the decision that no standing committee should hold its meeting before 5.00pm as the officials remain busy with their work before that time.
