Celebrating the Monsoon

The celebrations began with the recitation from Tagore's essay Meghdut by eminent music personality Wahidul Haque at the National Museum auditorium. This was followed by an entertaining dance performance by Sharmila Bandyapadhaya and her troupe with the song Trishnar Shanti Shundar Kanti. The dancers were dressed elegantly in white sarees, green and red uttarios.

Ami Tokhono Chhilem Mogon Gahon Ghumer Ghorey was followed by a group song performed by the metropolitan branch of the Jatiya Rabindrasangeet Shammilon Parishad. The boys in white Panjabee and the girls in blue sarees with white bely flowers adorning their hair gave the effect of white clouds in the bright blue sky.

Sharmila Bandyapadhaya performed a solo dance with the enchanting number Mor Bhabonarey Ki Haway Matalo. The light effect on the screen depicted the sky changing its colour with the mood of the songs.

The singers were Papya Sarwar, Bulbul Islam, Sajed Akbar, Mahiuzzaman Moyna, Aditi Mohsin, and others. The recitation by Khaled Khan and Krishti Hefaz was good entertainment for the audience.

As there was no anchor of the programme and nobody to introduce the artistes, it was difficult for the audience to identify them except the few prominent ones. But this did not in any way dampen the spirit and joy of the audience.
