The High Court Division had issued a rule upon the director and three doctors of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and also the officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station to show cause why they should not be directed to hold an inquiry into the alleged denial of treatment to a dying patient and submit a report in this regard.The court did not order removal of the respondents from their posts as was incorrectly reported by the UNB, which was published in national dailies yesterday. The petitioner, also a lawyer who filed the public interest litigation, misinformed the UNB about the rule issued by the vacation bench comprising Justice Amirul Kabir Chowdhury and Justice Syed AB Mahmudul Huq. The correct version of the rule was available yesterday from the registrar of the Supreme Court.
