Asia, Pacific CJ confce begins in Tokyo


The 10th conference of the Chief Justice of Asia and Pacific began on Monday in Japanese capital of Tokyo to discuss inter alia issues related to the judicial system and the court administration.

Chief Justices from 30 countries including Australia, Canada, Russia and China are participating in the five-day conference, being organised every other year since 1985.

This year, the conference is being held with interactive sessions to focus on the latest developments in the areas of business law, labour law, family law, criminal law and more, according to a message received here yesterday.

Chief Justice KM Hasan addressed the session on Monday and gave a brief introduction of the legal system in Bangladesh.

Japanese Chief Justice Akira Machida welcomed the participants on the inaugural day when Australian Chief Justice Hon David K Malcolin chaired.

During the conference, the 18th LAWASIA conference is also being held which presents an opportunity to further develop the knowledge of Law and network with fellow professionals in order to developing legal education of the highest standard especially in the Asia Pacific Region.
