A freedom fighter and his son

Those who participated in the liberation war of Bangladesh are called freedom fighters. No wrangling and question about it. But what has been happening in the liberated Bangladesh regarding this sensitive issue? It's a matter of pride that my father was a combatant in the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. He never bothered to get a certificate for that. He never really cared. For this reason he did not collect and never expected any written recognition as a freedom fighter from successive governments. Another reason that resisted him was the politicisation of the whole matter. We witnessed how political parties handled the freedom fighters in post-liberation era. And this is still going on.

Now he is very old. He refused to take any facilities from the government. And I appreciate his way of thinking. But at the same time I want to tell everybody that I am the son of a freedom fighter.
