Actor Charles Bronson dies

Charles Bronson, a former coal miner who became the "tough guy" star of action movies such as The Dirty Dozen, the war dramas The Great Escape and Death Wish, died on August 30 at 81 of pneumonia, US media reported.Bronson was one of the major action stars of the 1960s and '70s along with Clint Eastwood and Steve McQueen, with whom he starred in the 1960 western The Magnificent Seven, a remake of Akira Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai. Bronson became a box-office draw in Europe with his role as a hired killer in Italian director Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Western, Once Upon a Time in the West. Bronson is survived by his third wife, Kim Weeks, and two children.
