Students block Banani road following mishap

Traffic movement between Mohakhali and Baani was disrupted for about an hour as students of Gulshan College put up barricades on the road following an accident yesterday.Kanak Lata Sarkar, a student of HSC second year of the college, suffered injury when a bus knocked her down while she was crossing the road at about 2:00pm at Chairmanbari in Banani. Kanak was first taken to a local clinic and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated. Mohammad Idris, a teacher of Social Welfare Department of the college, said the bus hit Kanak, violating red signal. As the news spread, more than 100 students and locals took to the street and blocked the New Airport Road at Chairmanbari. Police brought the situation under control.
