Human chains to be formed in Barisal

The committee to realise the demand for Padma Bridge at Mawa at a meeting yesterday decided to form human chains at 38 upazilas and district headquarters in the Barisal division simultaneously to press for its demand.However, the date for the demonstration has not been fixed. The committee has long been demanding that the bridge be constructed at Mawa. Presided over by Barisal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) President Ebaidul Huq Chan, the meeting was held at the BCCI building. Political leaders, businessmen, professionals, cultural activists and civil society members attended the meeting. They said the construction of the Padma Bridge at Mawa would reduce the distance between the capital and the southern region and the travelling would be cheaper. They also called for united movement to realise their logical demand. Mintu Basu, member secretary of the committee, Abdur Razzak of BCCI, Saiful Islam Miron of Sangskritik Sangathan Samannaya Parishad, Hanif Mia, Lal Mia, Md Yunus, Shakhil Molla, Mir Maniruzzaman spoke at the meeting.
