Philips nat'l tennis

Eighteen matches of the Philips National Tennis Tournament were decided yesterday at the National Tennis Complex. In the men's singles event, Mahmudul, Mamun, Nukul Babu, Bashir Gazi, Hasmat Ullah, Babu Lal, Channu Lal, Dipu Lal, Moniru-zzaman, Minhaz, Russell, Yousuf Aman Monty, Shafiqur Rahman, Ranjan Ram, top seeded Amal Roy and second top seeded Hira Lal qualified for the second round. Besides, two matches in the boy's singles (age group-16) event were held at the same venue.
