An exceptional musical evening Ganey Ganey Nandanhar


Surma Cultural evening arranged an exeptional musical evening titled Ganey Ganey Nandanhar at the Nat Mandal auditorium of DU. The main theme of the programme was songs of the five great composers of Bengali culture, Rabindranath Tagore, Dwijendralal Ray, Atul Prashad Sen, Rajanikanto Sen and Kazi Nazrul Islam. On behalf of the organisation, Abul Mal Abdul Muhit, Dr. Syed Manzurul Islam and Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya gave their welcome speech. The director of the organisation Dr. Mridulkanti Bhattacharya while talking about the objective and target of the organisation, informed that a three-day-long national programme including discussion, seminar and songs and dances on the folk and tribal culture will be arranged by Surma in December. The traditional folk and tribal culture will be preserved and collected. Two audio, video and CD titled Matir Surey Praner Taney and Ganey Ganey Nandahar has been relesed and more of this kind of effort will go on.

Later in the programme the former and present students of the Drama and Music Department performed solo, duet and group songs of the five great composers. With the Tagore song Bishwa Bina Robey Bishwajan Mohichhey the musical session started. And after that the songs of D L Ray, Rajanikanto, Atul Prashad, and Nazrul has been sung one after another. The programme was hosted and directed by Dr. MridulKanti Bhattacharya and music coordinated by Deepak Paul and Tapan Sarkar. The stage designe and lighting was of good taste.
