Dacoit killed in gunfight with police in Mymensingh

An alleged dacoit was killed and seven others were injured in an hour-long gunbattle with police at Chhayani Rasulpur village in Gafargoan upazila on Saturday.The dead was identified as Chandu, 35, of Golarvita Chandertek village in Trishal upazila. Police and local people said, the gulbattle took place when the dacoits were fleeing after robbery at some houses. As the villagers raised a hue and cry, the dacoits fired blank shots, which drew a police team from Gafargoan thana led by SI Monsur. Police later recovered the body of Chandu and a pipegun. On September 24 night, two alleged dacoits were beaten to death at Joydarkhali village in Gafargoan and a retired policeman was killed by dacoits at Gandakhola village in Trishal.
